Fuel Up to Play 60 has an exciting selection of Back to School activities. Your school can enter the NFL's Back to Football Friday contest or Host a Tailgate Party Play to highlight the importance of healthy eating and physical activity. And your students have the opportunity to submit a commercial as part of the Fuel Up to Play 60 Back to School, Back to Football Challenge.

During the event, they learned how they can make a difference in their schools and hometowns by being leaders with Fuel Up to Play 60. Visit our newsroom to check out the event.
In September, multiple organizations – including Fuel Up to Play 60 – will focus on National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month. Fuel Up to Play 60 is effectively working to help address the childhood obesity issue and help youth develop and maintain healthy habits to last a lifetime. As you plan your Back to School, Back to Football events, keep National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month top of mind.

Has your school applied for Funds for Fuel Up to Play 60? Your school has the chance to receive $4,000 through the competitive, nationwide funding program. The next application deadline is October 1 – so if your school hasn't applied, now's the time!
Log in to your Dashboard at FuelUpToPlay60.com on or before September 16, 2011, to be entered into a drawing for a chance to win $1,000 worth of Fuel Up to Play 60 and NFL Shop merchandise (two Grand Prize winners) or one of 25 Prize Packs.
It's Back to School and Back to Football time, so show us how you are kicking off Fuel Up to Play 60 this year with the Back to School, Back to Football Challenge, which starts August 22 and ends on October 10. Create your own Fuel Up to Play 60 commercial, and show us how you're kicking off Fuel Up to Play 60 this year!
Students (or adults) can earn digital badges and downloadable rewards through their participation in the Fuel Up to Play 60 Challenges. AND the school may win additional rewards from their local Dairy Council or be featured in a national eNews! Remember: To easily view your school's Challenge entries, just log in to your Dashboard and see Challenges.
The Host a Healthy Tailgate Party Play, set to launch this month, includes ideas for how to host a series of tailgate parties throughout the year to highlight the importance of healthy eating and physical activity. Schools can use the "tailgate" theme to build excitement, provide opportunities for taste tests of different healthy snacks and meal choices and get kids thinking about healthy choices.
In addition to a series of school-time parties, hosting family-friendly tailgates can boost family participation at school events like Open House/Back to School Night, Back to Football Friday, teacher conference days, sporting or arts celebration events and more. Using the excitement of the NFL to get students and their families thinking about healthy food choices will make these parties fun and effective.

Want to know how your school can be named an NFL PLAY 60 Super School?! We're gearing up for Back to Football Friday 2011, and we're hoping to make this year's Back to Football celebration even bigger than it was last year!
Teachers and school administrators can register now for their school's chance to be named one of 34 NFL PLAY 60 Super Schools and receive a $10,000 health and wellness grant (awarded in the form of a check made payable to the winning school) and an NFL team celebration!
Registration will remain open for two weeks following the first game of the NFL regular season. Schools will be asked to show their NFL pride by holding a Back to Football celebration and completing three essay questions on their commitment to youth health and wellness.
Schools can also use their Back to Football Friday celebration to enter the Fuel Up to Play 60 Back to School, Back to Football Challenge! Just be sure to work in the requirements of the Challenge.

A recent American Academy of Pediatrics report finds that kids don't need energy and sports drinks – and that some of these products contain substances that could be harmful to children. The AAP recommends that youth consume water, low-fat and fat-free milk and juice.
The USDA's HealthierUS School Challenge (HUSSC) recognizes those schools participating in the National School Lunch Program that have created healthier school environments through promotion of nutrition and physical activity. Learn more about how your school can get involved in the HUSSC program, and register to receive updates from the USDA.
